No.1 - Pick the right metal
Choose a wedding ring made from the same metal as your engagement ring, different metals can wear each other away.

Fingers tend to swell up when they get hot, so never buy a ring that's a bit tight on a cold day.

If you intend to wear an eternity ring in the future make sure you leave space on your finger for one.

Gold is available in yellow, white, red, pink, green and occasionally blue or purple.

White gold is usually plated with a metal called rhodium and will need to be re-plated from time to time. If you want a ring that stays white choose platinum.

Metals like titanium, tungsten and stainless steel cannot be worked on in a traditional Goldsmith's studio. If you want a wedding ring made from a modern metal make sure the jeweller selling the ring knows how to resize or repair it.
No.10 - Don't be a fashion victim
Russian wedding rings, bark effect finishes and feature hallmarks have all been in and gone out of fashion. When choosing a wedding band get the ring you like.
