Wedding Dress Consultants Falkirk

There was a time when a wedding dress had to be white and that was that. But while some brides may still choose to get hitched in white, other women will prefer to select another colour altogether. If you like the idea of white but you don’t feel you could carry it off for some reason, you could opt for the next best thing and go for cream or off-white instead. Ivory can be a good choice if pure white is a bit too bright for your tastes.

What Colour Should Your Wedding Dress Be?

There was a time when a wedding dress had to be white and that was that. But while some brides may still choose to get hitched in white, other women will prefer to select another colour altogether.

If you like the idea of white but you don’t feel you could carry it off for some reason, you could opt for the next best thing and go for cream or off-white instead. Ivory can be a good choice if pure white is a bit too bright for your tastes.

But the colour of your wedding dress should not merely depend on what you think would be appropriate. It depends a lot on you as well. You shouldn’t wear white if it really doesn’t suit you. And the same goes for any other colour. You should look stunning on your wedding day and that will only happen by taking the time to choose the right colour for you.

You should already have a reasonable idea of which colours will look nice on you and which ones won’t. Your skin colour will have a bearing on this; if you look pale you don’t want to choose colours that make you look even paler. But in contrast if you have a deep skin colour you will be able to stand wearing white if you wish.

Many wedding dresses are available in various pastel colours. So you have pale pinks, blues, reds and lots of other colours as well. It’s always a good idea to make sure you try on lots of shades as this is the only way you will be able to work out what suits you and what doesn’t. Bear in mind that the design could affect how a certain colour looks as well, so don’t hesitate to try on different designs in the same colour.

One thing to bear in mind is that you do not have to wear a certain colour or shade because it is expected of you. Instead, think about what you want from your wedding and which colour you would feel comfortable in. Half the congregation might be expecting you to wear white, but if you feel comfortable and attractive in royal blue then go for it. There are no limitations and no rules that cannot be broken.

If you are stuck for a colour for your dress, consider the time of year as well as what your overall wedding theme is likely to be. Both of these can provide inspiration for you. Darker colours are more suited to winter months whereas pastel colours always work best in the summer. But if you want to have a pale wintry theme during the winter and a pale dress works best to that effect, then you have found the ideal one for you.
